Note that these Unicode characters are not canonically equivalent to the base letters plus ⟨◌̴⟩. The diacritic ⟨◌̴⟩ should therefore only be used when a precomposed character does not exist.

A double overstruck tilde may be used to distinguish uvularized from velarized consonants. At least n and r are attested with a double overstruck tilde.[1]
